Geek Squad.
We've all seen the commercials. Some nerdy kid with a pair of black dickies, a white button-up, a black tie, and some totally awesome shades driving around in a little black and white, marked squad car.
Ok, so the shades aren't that cool and it's really only a VW Bug. They carry around little badges and they fix nearly any computer problem you could possibly have. And with a name like "Geek Squad", they just have to be good.
So, when I had trouble hooking up my wireless router I called them and scheduled an appointment to get it all hooked up. They came over, got it working and everything. I had a desk top computer and three laptops all working off of it. It was great. I had file and print sharing and internet resources all throughout the house. I could finally get some real work done.
Until about thirty minutes after the guy left, then everything just stopped. No internet on any laptop, no internet on the desktop, no file sharing, and definitely no print sharing. I was pissed. I had paid the man with a $159 check and nothing worked. So I called them up and did what Americans do best: I complained.
They apologized for the inconvenience. They told me someone would be out here in two days, first thing in he morning. There was nothing to worry about. Of course the call back would be free of charge.
So I waited, biting my nails. I resorted to "stealing" the wireless signals that crossed over into my house from the neighbors' so I could get some work done. Finally the day was there. They would be on my doorstep that morning, they had even called the night before to confirm it.
So I waited.
An hour before they were supposed to be there I get a phone call. Something had come up. No one would be available to service my network.
What-
The-
. . .
I was beyond pissed. I called up the Geek Squad and was transferred over to the complaints department after being informed that they could help get an emergency call sooner than the next available window, which was a week later. So the lady at complaints helped me, she took down my information and filed a formal. She did everything she could. But, of course, she couldn't get anyone out any earlier.
She blew me off like it was nothing.
So I told her I was canceling the check for $159. She was a lot nicer after that. Still no help, but a lot nicer and a lot more willing to help.
Geek Squad sucks. They did nothing to really help me, their service sucked, and they didn't care. Don't use Geek Squad, you'll get screwed over.
Geek Squad gives geeks everywhere a bad name.
